Los Angeles Drama Club is honored to present the Carol P. Surface Memorial Fund.
Carol was an exceptional actor and artist, and had a keen understanding of the difference participation in the Arts can make in a child’s life.
In 2019, LADC launched a new initiative – a Spring Break Experience, offered during school recesses to children whose families are transitioning out of homelessness. At the inaugural session, held directly across the street from the iconic Watts Tower, our young actors spent the days playing theater games, exploring William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, and sharing meals and stories around our communal dining table. The week culminated in a performance attended by parents, friends and members of the Watts and LADC communities. The combination of theater, art and community is a perfect reflection of the values that were so important to Carol.
We are proud to announce that the Carol P. Surface Memorial Fund is an official sponsor of this program. All donors to the fund will receive a personal invitation to future culminating performances, so that they can witness first-hand the magic that results when children are given a safe space to experience the Arts.
Your donation honors Carol’s legacy, and makes it possible for us to continue to offer a quality arts program to these vulnerable, curious, hopeful young people. We extend our deepest gratitude to you …
