Summer with SYF Performances

It’s Summer, and Shakespeare Youth Festival invites you to join us for our Friday Summer Recitals! Every Friday, at 2 pm, our young actors and writers (ages 8 through 17) will share their work in a free public performance.

YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL
Eight young playwrights have spent a week creating and developing new short plays. They will present their work, read by an ensemble of adult professional actors, and teen actors from the Shakespeare Youth Festival ensemble.

SHAKESPEARE AND NATURE
In the 16th Century, we were still in harmonious communication with the dirt below our feet and the spheres and lights above. Our actors have spent a week exploring Shakespeare’s use of Nature in his plays. Join us as they present their work.

In addition to exploring the music found in Shakespeare’s plays, our actors have created their own movement pieces, inspired by the composers and artists inspired by Shakespeare.

SHAKESPEARE AND MYTHOLOGY
In earlier times, human eyes looked both above and below for help and guidance. Our actors have spent the week with the Ancients – blending our favorite myths together with similar references in Shakespeare’s plays.
